Fantastic Fall!

It's seems like forever since I have updated, sorry about that.  This time of year seems like it gets busier and busier. 

August means school starting again and an introduction to cooler evenings, a nice break from the scorching days!  August also means we start thinking about fall and bringing back some old favorites and adding some new ones. 

One new item, we are sure it will become a favorite of many, is our Sole Soothing Salve.  With the healing powers of comfrey, plantain, and Shea butter, all nestled in our organic bees wax and apricot kernel oil.  We will also be adding Lip Balms infused with a variety of healing oils and our Cold Relief Salve, infused with herbs to help relieve cold symptoms.  Look for them coming to our shop soon.

And bringing back some of our old favorites, our Back To Basics Tea & Herb Spice 'N Apple, Gingerbread, and Peppermint.  Our sweet mini pumpkins, witches, ghosts, bats and cats.  And don't forget are huge Rats and Skulls.

Formula 5 Salve

A while back I received a request from a customer for a product that would contain zinc pyrithione.  Zinc pyrithione is best known for its use in treating dandruff and seborrhoeic dermatitis. It also has antibacterial properties and is effective against many pathogens from the streptococcus and staphylococcus class. Its other medical applications include treatments of psoriasis, eczema, ringworm, fungus, athletes foot, dry skin, atopic dermatitis, tinea, roseca, and vitiligo.

I sent a sample of my Anti-itch Salve.  With the primary ingredient of Pau D Arco Bark, a natural anti-fungal and anti bacterial, I believed it would show some results.  After increasing amounts and adding a few key ingredients, I developed a salve that has helped my customer and I wanted to take a few minutes to share some photos with you.  My new, all natural, Formula 5 Salve, a better way to help treat common skin conditions without the harsh side affects or expense of prescription medications.   Know someone who suffers from one of these conditions?  This will be the Best $13.50 they have ever spent.

Well, summer is just around the corner and we are busy getting ready for all of our upcoming events.

Now on to the good stuff!  We have been working on some great, new products for summer.  Our Bug Off Spray is a perfect fit for summer camping, boating, hiking, or just backyard cookouts!  We combined a special blend of Glycine Soja (Soybean) Oil and Lemon Eucalyptus Citradoria Oil.  It will not only leave your skin feeling soft, smooth and absolutely great but will also help ward off those pesky bugs!

Though many countries produce eucalyptus oil in small quantities, the prime source of eucalyptus oil for the world is Australia. Outside of a host of medicinal properties from helping to heal wounds, relieve respiratory problems, reduce muscle pain, it additionally helps to keep bugs at bay.

Bentonite Clay Facial Mask

One of Nature's most unique gifts, Bentonite Clay is becoming more popular for a variety of uses.  I have chosen to create a fantastic facial mask which tightens, brightens, and renews!

Bentonite Clay is a very unique substance, formed primarily of Montmorillonite, which is an extremely flat crystal flake, that carries a relatively strong negative ionic charge. The negative charge is compensated for by adsorbing a cation (either Sodium or Calcium) to the interior of the molecule, this is what makes it either Sodium Bentonite or Calcium Bentonite Clay.

Our clay is a natural mix of both sodium and calcium Bentonite, this will allow it to do twice as much as either one by itself.  The Sodium Bentonite has the highest Cation Exchange Capacity (CEC) and the higher the CEC of the clay the stronger the negative charge. This means that Sodium Montmorillonite has a stronger vacuum for pulling in heavy metals and toxins that it comes into contact with. Furthermore the Sodium Bentonite swells more giving it the ability to adsorb and absorb more toxins pulling them into the interior layers of the clay and carrying the them out of the body.   Calcium Bentonite does not swell as much as Sodium Bentonite and while that makes it less effective as a detoxing agent it is more effective as a remineralizer.

Another factor that makes Bentonite Clay Powder so indispensable is it’s ability to lower your body’s pH. The Bentonite will absorb some of the hydrogen from your cells enabling them to fill that space with the oxygen you so dearly need.

Bentonite clay's structure assists it in attracting and soaking up poisons on its exterior wall and then slowly drawing them into the interior center of the clay where they are held in a sort of repository.  As a result, reviving and rejuvenating your skin, revealing the brightened, tightened under layer after removing the dried, dead cells from the surface.

New Products, New Herbs and Summer Salves

Hi all!  As we all know, Spring is just around the corner and we are all looking forward to warmer days, outdoor projects that have been neglected all winter, and fun in the sun with family and friends.  I have been busy working on some great new products to help take care of your skin.

My research has lead me to some great herbal remedies and skin care products for summer sun.  With warmer weather comes itches, rashes, scrapes and bruises from Summer games, hikes, camping or swimming.  I will soon be introducing a couple of salves to make dealing with these common summer skin problems easier.  Bugs & Bubbles Everything Salve and our new Anti-Itch Salve.

My new Everything Salve is made of a combination of Echinacea, goldenseal, yarrow, and cayenne.  Echinacea is shown to have to have immuno stimulant, antiviral, antiexudative, anti-inflammatory, bacteriostatic, and fungistatic properties.  The proven actions of Echinacea are due to water-soluble polysaccharides. They act by sequestering the attacks of various microbes and allow the body to heal itself. Upon reaching an infected area, the polysaccharides have an immunostimulant effect, which results in the production of leucocytes (white blood cells). The resulting phagocytic action of the leucocytes effectively eradicates a number of infectious organisms.  The primary active ingredients in goldenseal are the alkaloids hydrastine and berberine, along with lesser amounts of canadine. Berberine appears to have a wide range of antimicrobial activity against pathogens, including Chlamydia, E. coli, and Salmonella typhi, as well as viruses and protozoans. The herb also  appears to stimulate the activity of macrophages, the immune cells that attack harmful bacteria. The herb seems to work quickly to knock these pathogens out. Yarrow has been used by acient cultures including the Greeks and Romans for- 

Bleeding, hemorrhage	Hair loss
Hemorrhoids	Nosebleed
Sore nipples	Wounds, burns

And, finally cayenne produces a warming effect while attacking bacteria, fungi, and assisting in reducing swelling and pain.  This salve is great for kids and adults and works on almost everything!

Bugs & Bubbles Anti-Itch Salve is derived from Pau D'Arco Bark.  The Incas and native tribes of South America use pau d’arco bark externally as a poultice or decoction for treating skin diseases including eczema, psoriasis, fungal infections, hemorrhoids and skin cancers.The recent popularity of pau d’arco in western herbology is attributed to its anti fungal activity in treating systemic yeast infections like candida albicans.  It contains astringent compounds that shrink inflamed tissues and are anti-fungal.  My Anti-Itch salve can be used by kids and adults.  It is good for rashes (including diaper rash), fungal infections, yeast infections, and a variety of rashes resulting from contact with plants or animals.  It also works great for severe dry skin problems.
